Since 2017 Marlinks offers a condition based-monitoring system for all submarine power cables
with the aim of reducing failure rates of subsea transmission systems, thereby maintaining
transmission efficiency.

We provide active decision support with our services for the O&M phase of subsea assets. With Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) we can monitor the Depth of Burial, Real-Time Thermal Rating and Cable Exposure of submarine power cables. Also, we have recently launched a new product service using Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) that has the potential for a wide range of monitoring aspects. Based on the configuration of the cable and its surroundings, information can be gathered on strain, CPS abrasion, environmental monitoring, etc. All our services are non-intrusive to the cables, taking away tiresome installation and maintenance works.

Both service lines monitor the transmission system through fiber optic packages embedded in composite submarine power cables. The services doesn’t require the use of offshore vessels or subsea intervention for the operations monitoring. Therefore, we give real-time actionable insights that allows a preventive maintenance strategy to reduce costs, risks and the carbon footprint.
